Dr. Simon Tam knew his sister would never come see him, so he decided to be proactive, again, and look for his sister. He'd checked her room, the star charts were still a little disconcerting. He checked the gym, though he doubted she'd be there. He checked a few other places, but as worried as he was, he couldn't help noticing that she seemed...different. River lived in "different," yet something had changed. Simon didn't know if it was a good change or a bad one, so leaving her alone for long periods of time didn't seem wise. He didn't know what could happen to her or others around her. With the searching being fruitless, she could hide rather well when she wanted, he decided to try one more place - the beach.
After stopping off to pick up a few snacks and drinks, Simon headed out to see if he could find his wayward little sister. She was his responsibility for so many reasons. He wouldn't let anyone hurt her, not after having let the Alliance, the Academy do what it did. He should have figured it all out sooner, gotten her out of there quicker. Yes, so the trek, what it was, to the beach was full of self-loathing, self-condemnation, and all those other things big brothers feel when they believe they've let their younger siblings down. Not just the younger siblings, but those they promised to look after. Molly, the young girl who seemed to have a temper, popped into his train of thoughts. He'd have to find her...
