Simon didn't exactly glare at the man; glaring at the insane didn't always give the best results. He didn't have anything that meant protection either. A syringe, a hypo, a scalpel - the boy was dangerous with the objects of his profession. His hand dipped into his pocket, finding exactly what he expected...nothing. His mind worked through the information as he crouched there, one hand awkwardly in his pocket, the other on River's shoulder.
"No one? Have you...looked?" He'd heard what Jayne had said about River, and he'd seen what they'd done to her first hand. With a soft sigh, he stood, shifting his weight to lean against River's bench. He might not be up on the rules, but he wasn't a bad chess player. The board didn't look right; he was counting up the pieces, and he had definitely noticed the move made just moments ago with the knight. Somehow though, the good doctor didn't cry "foul" or point out they were doing it wrong. Well, not exactly.
"So, there aren't any dinosaurs, but there are ghosts? Probably have rabid mutant rabbits running amok somewhere." Just a mumble.
