Rose admitted she had no idea what she was doing. Taking to a little girl she'd never even met in person was just so typically her, though. The Doctor would've shaken his head and muttered something about her and impossible cases. Mickey would've told her that her biological time clock was ticking and then died laughing. Jake would actually have volunteered to help her with that little issue (and had a few times, actually). But the fact was, Rose had never done well seeing anyone suffer. And a little kid who was most likely not an orphan (admittedly with some of the stuff she'd seen and some of the things she'd heard happening it was hard to be sure) but was just lost and missing her family made her heartstrings tug a little.
Finding the Children's Ward was easy enough. A few kids who'd apparently already finished eating were outside, under the eye of a hulking guard and a frazzled looking woman who could use an attitude adjustment, if Rose had her way. Sighing, Rose shot a smile in the direction of the children, glared at their 'keepers', and made her way inside. She didn't know what she'd been expecting. Maybe the orphanage from Annie, kids running around in rags and cleaning and playing tricks on the staff. But the place was clean (of course it was, kids were scrubbing floors and washing walls as punishments) and there weren't kids milling all over the place and there seemed to be a full staff of adults. Even if some were horrifying looking guards.
"Hi," she advised at the front desk, eyes darting around anxiously. It was like she was waiting for the bad guys to show up. "I'm Rose Tyler, I'm here for Astor?" It occurred to her that she didn't know Astor's last name, but it wasn't like she had a common first name. If she'd shown up looking for Jennifer, it might've been a little more difficult. She waited, then, while one of the staff went to retrieve the little girl. Go figure. Of course they wouldn't want Rose wandering around, trying to find her by herself. Who knew what she'd run into?
