It had been two and a half weeks since the attempted escape and their return to Salus. It really pissed Booth off that he hadn't been able to get away from this place. He just wanted to make sure that his son was alright, why was that such a bad thing? He had been even more grumpy than usual because of it, and the encroaching storm didn't do anything to alleviate his mood.
He'd gone to Brennan's room earlier to make sure that she was okay and to figure out a place to hide out until the storm blew over. He knew that there had to be a basement or something in this place, a place where all the water heaters and the heating and cooling system was housed. A cellar. Something. And that was their best bet to weather out the storm. They were on the ground floor, pulling open doors that led to storage closets and bathrooms, empty rooms and other annoyances that weren't labeled. This place certainly didn't make anything easy, even if it seemed like a nice resort.
Finally, though, Booth pulled open a door with some steps leading down. "This has to be it." He flipped the switch to turn on the singular dangling light. Well. Make the basement as eerie as possible, why don't they? He really wished he still had his gun.
