WHO: Leonard McCoy and James Kirk WHAT: Bones gets a new sort of!Roommate WHEN: April 23, evening WHERE: Bones' room RATING: PG, maybe? STATUS: Complete
Jim had asked Bones if he could come stay with him, but that had been a couple of days ago at this point. Bones had pretty much assumed that something else had caught Kirk's attention, though he worried, of course, as always. That was part of the reason he'd been pretty easy to convince about letting Jim move in with him. He certainly felt more settled when the young man was close. He knew very well that Jim could get himself into a whole hell of a lot of trouble alone. He managed well enough at that even when Bones was around. Jim had asked Bones to take care of him, and that would be easier to do with Jim close.
But Jim hadn't come, and Bones kept himself busy with exploring the area. He wasn't sure when, or even if, Spock would get around to rescuing them. Kirk seemed to have faith, but Bones simply didn't like the Vulcan, and wasn't all that inclined to but trust in him. So he might as well go under the assumption that they'd be trapped here for quite some time. When it came down to it, it could have been much worse. He might not quite understand why Kirk was here or how he had gotten here, but that didn't seem to matter all that much. They wouldn't starve, there was plenty of entertainment, and most importantly, they were both around.
Bones had taken to staying in most evenings, though, because for some reason, he thought that Kirk would be more likely to come during that time. For the first little while, it had been good to have some time to relax. Now, though, he was going crazy. He needed something to do. He'd drank all the brandy out of his flask, and was considering going to the casino to get more, but instead he was just pacing in his room, telling himself he wasn't nearly as worried about his best friend as he actually was.
