Davina cringed away from Kol. She had never actually seen him like this before and it was more than disturbing. Especially with the brunette prancing around in the background and giggling like the disturbed freak that she was. This was who Kol was spending him time with? No wonder he was acting like a maniac. He had made friends with one.
But Davina couldn't babysit Kol and save him at the same time. Forget about everything else. She was going to try and take the Sandersons down to save Kol. Getting the sun back, going home, those were just added bonuses to what she planned to accomplish. She wasn't sure how she would accomplish it yet which meant more study which meant more time away from Kol so he had plenty of opportunity to do things like this.
Her eyes filled with tears and she backed away from him. Elena became suddenly still, watching Davina with big brown eyes. Davina couldn't believe it. She loved him. She didn't see him the way that Bonnie and her friends did, the way the rest of the world did. Davina saw him as the man he had been around her. She saw him as someone who loved her and before that he had been human, a witch. That was what she wanted to return him to. They had been human when they fell in love and she brought him back wrong. It hadn't been planned, it just happened but Davina could fix it. She could always fix it with magic.
"Clean this up!" she barked at them both bitterly. "Before you have the entire town hunting you down. Don't make me stand between you and them, Kol. That's not fair."
She turned around to stalk off towards the car. She grabbed Faye's arm as she walked past so she could drag her with her. She didn't need to see that either.
"We have to get the book and the car back to the magic shop," Davina said. She was trying not to cry. She handed Faye the keys to the car.
