Davina was trying to keep her eyes on the road but it was difficult with Faye practically taunting her with that book. All she wanted to do was pull over and ravenously devour every syllable. She tried to show some self-control because obviously Faye had none.
"We really just talked to a cat."
Davina had never been one for familiars. Her life was too uncertain, she moved around too much. Then there was the never ending threats to her life that loomed around every corner. If Davina wound up dead for a few months, who would feed her pet? Actually, she could kind of see Josh feeding a cat for her. That would have been cute. She wished she could have experienced that for a minute.
She stopped on a page as Faye flipped. "Do that one." Davina couldn't read the full inscription but she read the Latin outloud. It was a dumb idea, suddenly she was driving like a champ though. She calmly steered the car to the right instead of towards town and ended up at the university. She guided the car into a mostly empty parking lot and then stopped. She sat there for a moment, eyes fixed straight ahead. She could feel Faye getting annoyed but she was numb to it's effects.
Davina got out of the car and walked onto the lawn only to find Kol covered in blood with some other woman, another vampire. They were laughing and moving bodies around.
"How about 'Hi' instead of 'Good Morning'?" Elena asked right before she noticed Davina's presence. Davina could see the bodies strewn around, like they were trying to spell something on the lawn.
