Once Faye calmed herself down from Davina's driving and was able to touch the ground with her feet, she felt a lot better. Faye looked around the neighborhood and it was quiet, obviously but there was something else that was sticking out. Faye just couldn't put her finger on it. But she felt it and she wondered if Davina felt it too. Unless it was an oncoming panic attack or something, but Faye didn't think so.
With a glance back, she looked around, her eyes falling on a sudden curtain moving from the house across the street. She didn't think anything of it and caught up beside Davina, stepping in the yard as they made their way back. Faye slid her finger across the screen of her phone to pull up a map and the woods weren't too far, but there were a few yards to go through.
The sudden barking of a dog made the witch jump. "Jesus Christ," she whispered loudly and narrowed her eyes at the dog, growling in response. She took Davina's arm and they picked up the pace as they crossed another yard, then another.
"I see it," she said. "I think." She frowned as she looked at her phone, then up ahead. "It's this way." She was trying to keep herself busy with the stupid phone and the map because she was literally ruining her boots with each step she took. She really liked them.
"Do you feel that?" She whispered after a little time had passed. The two of them barely said a word, but something just felt off - again. "I feel like someone's watching us," she whispered again, but didn't look back. She just wanted to find this house and get the hell back to the hotel.
