Who: Elena and Nate, open to anyone who wants to be at The Spectator What: Elena reads some hatemail and then spreads the hate around When: Today Where: The Spectator Warnings: Elena has no humanity so...
Things were going pretty great for Elena. The world could have burned down around her and it wouldn't even fucking matter. Not even Katherine could get under her skin now which was a sure sign that she was on the right track. Nothing could get to her, nothing could touch her anymore. Things happened, things would always happen and it didn't matter. Elena would adjust, she would move on. The only ties she had to anyone were those who could do something for her. She had no reason to burn her bridges and every reason to get along with her friends so they would be inclined to protect her. Elena wasn't stupid. She was a newbie vampire and Katherine could have crushed her like a bug the night she and Damon attacked Dixon.
She kept up her appearances, including going to work and writing on her blog. She used to write about the things that mattered to her. Her thoughts on love and life and whatever else happened to be on her mind. Since nothing mattered to her anymore she ended up writing about whatever was happening around town. She was having a hard time coming up with decent entries but like everything else, Elena just didn't care. She did the minimum required of her to continue getting a paycheck from The Spectator.
It was another day and she headed to the office right after class. She opened up her email like she normally would and gave a bored sigh as she clicked through one email after the next.
What's wrong with you?
It's just not the same anymore.
Everything reads so flat.
Stop boring me!
Elena Gilbert sucks.
Honestly, some of the worst writing I have ever read.
Where did Elena Gilbert go?
Elena slammed the laptop shut and looked out the window for a moment. She could smell the ocean nearby and it was an easy decision to just toss the computer out the window. She heard it slam into the pavement in the parking lot below. Somebody was nearby because they gasped but the machine hadn't hit anyone. Too bad.
Where did Elena Gilbert go? She was right here! It was the new and improved Elena. The one that didn't cry all the time, the one that didn't dwell on the past or try to dissect everyone's intent. This Elena didn't look for the good in anything or anyone and wasn't tortured by the idea that some people were just plain bad through and through. Elena Gilbert couldn't give a fuck anymore and everyone was going to have to get used to it.
It was time to show everyone where Elena Gilbert went. She grabbed the janitor by his throat as he walked by. "I'm about to make a mess," she said, using compulsion on him. "Go get a mop." She let him go and strode past him, down the hall to Nate's office.
"Get a writer in here," she demanded. "I don't care who it is."
