Jace was her brother. The words had hit Clary like a ton of bricks. She didn’t want to believe it. Valentine was a liar, he was just messing with them. The feelings that Clary had towards Jace were definitely not sisterly. They’d made out. She’d made out with her brother? No. It couldn’t be true. That was not what had happened. Valentine was lying. Still, Clary couldn’t get his words out of her mind. She supposed that it was better that she was here without Jace. Seeing his face would just break her heart. Izzy was here, though, and Clary had talked a bit with her. There was so much going on at home. They’d just saved her mom but Izzy had been on trial. Clary hadn’t really been able to find out what was going on with that yet. She felt guilty, she knew she should have tried to seek Izzy out, talk to her and figure out what happened with her trial and the Clave. They had the Mortal Cup, and her mother. For the moment, Valentine was finished. Now Clary was here in Salem, alone with her feelings. She sat outside trying to concentrate and draw. That usually helped her to sort how she was feeling. Simon wasn’t here either. No Simon and no Jace. Clary was definitely feeling alone. She just wanted to be able to figure everything out, and she couldn’t do that from here. She wanted to see her mom, to hug her, to hold her. She hoped that one day she would. For now, there was nothing she could do. They were all just stuck in Salem. Maybe if Jace were here, he’d be able to get them back home but Clary had barely learned that she was a Shadowhunter. She was too new to be of any use here. She scribbled on the sketch pad and sipped the coffee that had long gone cold. |
