Alex was doing her best to take things one day at a time. That was the only way she knew how to live anymore. And that had been the way she’d lived her life, even before she was a vampire. She didn’t plan too far ahead, save for the UN events and such. But they were just days on a calendar. And though she knew she was helping, that wasn’t the same as planning for her own future. If anything, she put that off as often and as long as she could. It wasn’t different now. She and Matt had admitted their feelings, but Alex was clueless as where to go from there. She felt like she was terrible with the whole relationship thing. She always flashbacked to Sean, dying in her arms. She didn’t want that to happen with Matt. But she wasn’t strong enough to stay away from him either. She didn’t know if they were officially dating or what they were. They didn’t need to label it. Right now, Alex was comfortable with the way things were. She was supposed to meet him tonight, but unbeknownst to Alex, he was stuck at the office longer than anticipated. So when she made her way to his room and knocked, it was not Matt who greeted her. It was Faye. Alex didn’t know Faye well, just that she was Matt’s roommate and she didn’t seem to like Alex too much. She’d told Alex that Matt could do better, and Alex had agreed. They hadn’t really spoken much since then. “Sorry.” Alex said awkwardly. “I was looking for Matt.” But he wasn’t here. She knew that because she couldn’t smell him. And because there was only Faye’s heartbeat. She didn’t say that to the other girl though, because that would be weird. “Um...tell him I stopped by.” Alex said, with every intention of leaving so as not to make it more awkward. |
