Work had been...work. It'd been a few days before Emma had dragged herself to the Salem Police Department in search of work. Though, with the tone of how things had been going, she was a little surprised that she'd taken a position as a detective and not something else. She would be just as happy doing something else, but it made her think of her father, and home, to be back in a police station. Granted, this one was a bit more active than in Storybrooke, that was for sure. There were at least a handful of other detectives, as well as the rest of the staff. Really, it was a miracle they'd even given Emma the job, what with the fact that she hadn't exactly rolled in here with a resume or list of references. It was just as strange as the fact that she was here and not with her family.
Since Emma'd been chatting on the networks with her roommate, she'd realized that she could reach out and see if there really was anyone from Storybrooke here. It was something that was just as exciting as it was potentially disconcerting. One of those better-to-not-know-than-to-reach-out-and-b
The walk from the police department back to the hotel was not long at all. Either that, or it just happened to suit her needs perfectly. It was just long enough for Emma to shrug off some of the weight of the day. It did nothing, really, in terms of peace of mind, but she was willing to overlook a lot at the prospect of a warm meal and a friendly face. She made her way up to the fourth floor and to the room she shared with Dixon. She didn't really need to knock, but she did so anyway -- she rapped lightly on the door twice before using her key to go in. She walked in slowly, peering around until she came to the kitchen. With a sheepish sort of grin and a wave, Emma nodded at her roommate as she walked over. "Hey," she said, somewhat lamely. Glancing around for something to say, Emma gave a soft laugh. "How was your day?"
