"That's because you're directly connected to your magic," Davina said but she was positive that Adam already knew that. She was acquainted with the circle and their various fortes in magic. She had even worked with them when it came time to take down The Sandersons. The very first time she had seen Adam he had been working on a private spell, one he hadn't wanted her to see. She wondered if he ever figured it out.
"Connecting your magic with an object is harder. It always helps to have a conduit." Davina knew a lot about cloaking spells. It was one of the first real spells that she had learned. They had tried to teach her how to grow a sprout from the ground instantaneously but as it turned out, Davina was better at hiding things than growing them. It was unsurprising, given her personality.
What would help him the most was magic in numbers but clearly he didn't want to try that or he wouldn't be here. He had a whole coven of witches back at his house to work with. Lucky. Davina envied him. She was still so angry at herself for depriving her and Kol of their magic. Davina felt stripped without it. Strangely, it was a feeling she hadn't noticed until Silas asserted his control over her. Now it felt unbearable, like fire ants all over her skin. She couldn't make it stop. It was even harder being surrounded by it. Every day she wanted to confide in Christy, watching and waiting for any sign that Christy might be some kind of psychopath. It was hard to trust when you were Davina Claire.
"What kind of object are you trying to hide?" she asked him. It was a nosy question but really she was just trying to figure out how big it was. The size and shape of the object would directly affect the kind of advice she would give Adam about casting his spell.
