"Yeah, man. Looks alright." He shoveled another spoonful into his mouth as he nodded his greeting. Sam totally got where Steve was coming from. They were all kind of going through the motions at this point. Having several people arrested for a stupid ass reason tended to wear at a person. They had fought against worse foes, but this one was so different. This wasn't Hydra, aliens, or whacked out robots. No, this was regular people. Regular, dumb ass people who couldn't figure out that the witch trials had ended centuries ago.
God damn, stupid people.
Sam watched Steve zone in and out. Once upon a time, he might have made a joke about Captain America acting like a normal person, but not now. He knew Steve was a normal person even though he might have had some super juice in him. The dude was pumped full of stuff those jocks would have killed to get their hands on. Super soldier footballers would have been an interesting game to watch, a game Sam might actually watch and he hated football.
The cereal was finished and he kept on watching his friend.
"Considering I'm waiting for some other crazy ass thing to happen? Yeah, man. I'm alright. What about you?" He moved to rinse his dirty bowl before placing it in the dishwasher.
"If I had known you were home I would have made you breakfast. I've lost track of which of us are here and which aren't at this point." They were all holding different hours, trying to find those people. Trying to find a simple clue. Trying to find anything.
A loud sigh escaped Sam just as he ran hands over his face. "Shit, Cap. I'd almost be happy to deal with something crazy if it meant this nonsense was over, you know?"
