The wind howled outside the cave where Willow called home. Magic kept the wind and the cold from the cave and provided an adequate amount of heat to where the witch wore clothing as if she were in doors. Barefoot she padded around the cave, pacing. Erin was staying with her on occasion now as well. When she was not in town. The young girl suited Willow. Neither of them were much in the way of conversationalists and it suited them both nicely. However despite the occasional presence of the girl, something was still missing.
Buffy Willow snarled thinking about the slayer. It infuriated her that she still craved the slayers approval. One would have through bringing her precious Faith back from the brink would have been enough for her to see, to understand that mantle of ‘protector’ no longer had to fall solely on the shoulders of Buffy Summers. The power that she possessed? Willow let an energy ball crackle to life in her hands almost as if to prove the point to herself. With this power she could tip the scales. The slayer would never have to force herself to do the unthinkable. To make choices when there seem to be none. If she pursued this power, if she could somehow keep gathering magic, she could have the power to save the world in the palm of her hand. As well as the power to just as easily snuff it out completely.
Yet they still pressed her to give up the power. All of them, not just Buffy. Faith, Cordelia, and even the newly resurrected Angel had sought to try and lure Willow back to the side of the light. How could they not see all that she could accomplish with these magics? The gifts she had already bestowed? Had the witches of Salem had not brought him back, Willow would have attempted the magics herself. Buffy would have objected at first of course. Taking another life to bestow life was the only way the magics could work, she knew that. Her dead lover revived may have allowed her to look past that however. Perhaps even see the potential in Willow’s gifts.
Willow’s phone buzzed excitedly in her pocket. It was Erin with news from town. Willow stared blankly at the phone in her hand a few moments. “A witch hunt?” she said out loud. Quickly she clacked out a response to the girl, warning her to be careful. Her heart began to pound. If they were hunting witches... There were enough people in this town… She could potentially be captured. Buffy would be seen as a sympathizer… Dawnie . Hurriedly she clacked out a message to her friend.
Alive. Will find you soon…. Keep Dawn safe.
Hunting witches were they? A dangerous grin flashed across Willow’s face. She would be no easy prey.
