Shane stood there for a moment kind of frozen because all of a sudden Claire was hugging him but that was okay because the feel of her arms was ... comforting. Even if she was taking the blame for everything which really, it wasn't her fault. He felt like a dip because he did call his father and and his father came just a little too late. He didn't even think about the fact that Michael could be mistaken for a vampire. He wasn't even a vampire. He was a ghost. And he was trapped. He couldn't leave the Glass House! It was such a mess. And he wasn't even there to find out what happened. It was like he was in limbo.
At least he had Claire.
His arms moved around her and he pulled her close. He smelled like smoke while she smelled like some citrus, like oranges and lemons. "Shhh, it's not your fault." Not all of it at least. He had to take the blame too. Their group was the most stubborn he'd ever met and he was one fourth. Claire thinking she had to do everything on her own and well, Shane too. Because that's what he did. He just wanted to fix it and he ended up screwing things up after they thought they were in the clear.
Shane's hands rested on her lower back as he pulled back from her. He wasn't letting go just yet. Some part of him was afraid that if he did then this would all disappear. Which as of right now was a bad thing because he didn't know what was in store for him next.
So, right now they were just holding onto eachother and Shane finally raised a hand toward her hair, pulling it back.
"It's safe to say we both feel pretty shitty about what happened. Right now we just have to figure out a way back. I know you said we're trapped but there has to be a way right. Hey, maybe it's hidden in a book?" He was trying to lighten the mood a little but it kind of fell flat.
"I mean, not like there's a book lying around somewhere that has all the answers, right?"
