It didn't seem fair. None of it seemed fair to them. To Laurel. Oliver wanted to fix it. He wanted to just hold Laurel and somehow rewrite what was going to be known as history. Laurel Lance was dead. His Laurel. God, how did Oliver let this happen? How could something so horrible happen to him? It was always going to be Laurel for him. As much as he loved Felicity. As much as Oliver wanted to have that light in his life Oliver knew that he always had it. Right by his side.
Pulling away, Oliver just had to take a moment to hold Laurel against him. Just the two of them standing their and sharing body heat. The world around them continued but for now it stood still in their personal space. Oliver wished that he knew how to freeze time permanently. How to live in a world where time didn't exist. Where Laurel would be safe.
"Let's go home." Oliver smiled gently as he pulled Laurel in for a gentler kiss. He wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. He wanted to go home with her to talk. To eat ice cream. To do all the wonderful things that only they could do with each other.
Taking her hand and leading her to the limo, Oliver knew that his life was starting over in a lot of ways. Oliver had to prioritize. He had to make time for the people in his life - for Laurel. Oliver wanted to protect her and he knew in some ways it would make them buttheads. Oliver just didn't know how to function without the woman he wanted to be with.
This was his life. Oliver's life with Laurel for as long as he could remember he was happy. Being with Laurel made him happy. That was all that mattered.
