Dan grew quiet. He didn't know what to say. Not then. Not when Serena yelled that she didn't love him anymore. He felt like the room was maybe spinning, even for a second because this just wasn't right. This couldn't be true. How did she not love him anymore? His fist clenched. He counted back from ten. He tried everything in that moment to calm down but there was something inside of him. Something ... bad. Salem had changed him in ways he would never fully understand. In ways that he would look back on and hate. He hated this. He hated the situation and she ... just gave up on him.
No, that wasn't a marriage.
"How could you do this to me?" His tone was calm but his body was anything but because he was out of his seat and he grabbed her upper arms and slammed her against the wall. He didn't realize he slammed her, he didn't think anything of it. He just held her there, staring at her. "After everything, you did this to me!? How much more am I supposed to take!?" He yelled. Right in her face. He looked like a madman and there were tears in his eyes.
Everything was a whirlwind because suddenly, he felt himself being pulled back and in the next second, he felt a wave of heat, and pain and he saw stars for a moment as his body twisted by the impact of the punch and he fell on the tile in Serena's kitchen. He could taste his own blood as he laid there for a moment and he looked up, seeing Nate.
"Get the fuck out of here," Nate yelled then, his blue eyes darker as they stared down at him. He reached down, grabbing Dan's arm, pulling him up, or trying to but it just pulled him across the floor.
Dan suddenly pushed himself up and off the floor and charged toward Nate, shoving him into the nearest wall.
