=================
Erik was glad for the weekends. Teaching history at the high school was still feeling slightly new to him. But he felt he was doing well enough, five the current circumstances, like being trapped in this city. He had been in a prison before, for a crime he did not commit. Or hadn't intended to commit. And then there was his time in the Nazi camps, that was a whole other level of imprisonment and Hell. He preferred not to dwell on that part of his childhood too much.
So, given the fact that this was a day off, he decided he'd go have a drink. He had pondered the notion of being on patrol. He could do that. But he'd rather get to know the lay of the city a bit more. And if he even thought to investigate that sudden big forest, he wouldn't go into those woods without plenty of metal along for him to use if needed. It would help if he was in a team but he didn't know of any other mutants beside Peter. Maybe they'd get lucky and more suddenly arrive. Now that would be quite something, Erik thought to himself.
So today, he wandered into the bar, wearing pants and a short sleeved white shirt. He made his way to the bar counter and sat on the stool, ordering himself a beer and leaving the money down. Once he got the drink, he downed half of it, one hand resting on the counter, looking down and seeing those very familiar numbers on his left forearm. An eternal reminder of his past, and also served as a warning to let no needle touch his skin again, to never allow himself or any other innocents be oppressed again.
So far this city didn't have danger of that. But there were plenty of other dangers, such as whispers of things coming out at night. Of kidnappings, magic attacks, demons, and other things he used to think a myth. Which is why he was in here during the day for now. Maybe he'd meet a few people that knew how to handle that type of fight. He finished the remainder of his drink then and ordered another, leaving another tip down on the counter.
