Karolina immediately began to shimmer with a rainbow shine that helped to light their way as they walked. Things were getting darker and Karolina began to grow more concerned about her ability to fly out not only herself but him too if things got hairy. She definitely would have noticed this maze before. She had flown over those trees a million times by now but this was the first time she actually landed and set foot in them. A change had piqued her curiosity and if something messed up was going on inside of this thing, she had to warn the others.
"I'm Karolina," she said, realizing she hadn't introduced herself just yet. "Are you new? I don't recognize you."
Karolina was friendly and so was her girlfriend, so they tended to know a lot of people who lived in The Hawthorne Hotel. She supposed it was possible that this boy was native to Salem. There were regular old people wandering through town, carrying on with their lives as usual. Working at the Gulu Gulu Cafe had also helped to acquaint Karolina with the locals. She recognized most faces but she didn't know his.
She heard something skittering in the distance and Karolina frowned. She narrowed her eyes but couldn't see anything. Her muscles tensed and a slight breeze blew her blonde tangles off of her shoulder. They weren't completely enclosed yet which made her feel a little better.
Her fingers unclenched so she could spread them, prepared to wield sunlight as her weapon if anything should attack them. Someone had said this forest was a breeding ground for trouble and Karolina had no doubt about that.
