Derek's blood pressure had continued to steadily rise every time he met a new obstacle. Finding Cora had taken some of the edge off of his anxiety but talking to Scott had only pumped it back up. Scott had filled Derek in and it turned out he had missed a lot. There were things that had happened that he had no knowledge of. The last thing he remembered was dealing with that bitch Jennifer and taking off with his sister. They had no real destination in mind but leaving was imperative.
That was partly why Derek was so surprised that Isaac was being so civil towards him. In Derek's recent memory, Isaac had just stormed off to be a part of Scott's pack because Derek was such a shitty alpha. While Derek could be angry about it, he couldn't truly blame Isaac. Erica and Boyd were lost, it didn't even seem at the time that he could save Cora. If he were Isaac, he would have left too.
Not that it mattered, Derek wasn't even an alpha anymore. He had given it all up to save his sister and he didn't regret it for a second.
The news that Allison had died didn't make Derek cry. He wasn't going to pretend to grieve for an Argent but he knew that it must have had an effect on Scott and he supposed Isaac as well from what he had been told. He was more concerned with the reappearance of Kate and the idea that he had fully turned into a wolf. He wasn't sure how that possible since he was no longer an alpha. His mother and Laura had mastered it but Derek didn't think he would ever have the chance.
Derek was hungry, as always, and he stopped at a sandwich shop to grab some food for himself and for his sister. With a bag full of sandwiches and chips, he walked out of the store. Ever since he had come here, his senses had been on fire and now he sensed something far too familiar.
No. Scott had told him she had come back but he hadn't said she was here. A low growl rumbled deep in his chest.
"Come out," he demanded, his eyes flashing bright blue.
