"Tag team self-loathing is just group-loathing," Danny pointed out before he could stop himself.
"I actually saved up money and bought myself a press. Coffee snob," he pointed at himself with a mixed look; one that read shame and pride at the same time. Bad coffee was something he couldn't really handle and that was probably because he didn't pour tons of cream and sugar into his caffeine. No, the darker the coffee the better. Drinking bad coffee black was just never fun or tasty. "And if they come up with coffee IVs I'll let you know."
He watched her play with an invisible bow and merely raised an eyebrow. So she was someone who could take care of herself it seemed. That or someone who thought they could. In this place, it was hard to tell sometimes. Before he could dwell on that too long he found himself snorting into his coffee mug at her pun. Puns were funny, okay? When the girl who looked liked Allison started eating he worked on finishing off his own food. A slight frown appeared as she spoke about the creepy crawlies. The problem was he had been aware of some of those things, but he barely knew Kate. Did he just admit he knew about some of the stuff that went bump in the night? It wouldn't be like he was selling out the pack or anything...
"The graduating class at my high school used to be a lot bigger," he finally said diplomatically. "I kind of learned when it is a good idea to stay inside and when it is a good idea to walk quietly and carry a big stick. That and I signed up for some muay thai classes?" Danny gave her a slight smile before finishing off his plate of biscuits and gravy. There, no mention of the pack or Jackson.
"You don't seem to be freaking out. Used to the abnormal?" He leaned back in his side of the booth and watched her. Okay, it was kind of weird to be talking to someone who looked like Allison.
