"We can self-loath together. Although I think that defeats the purpose of the whole alone, internal guilt-tripping monologue we'll go through but.." Kate trailed off with a shrug, and drank more from her coffee.
She conceded to Danny's distaste for Dunkin with a nod of her head. "Beggars can't be choosers. Coffee is coffee is coffee. Hook up an IV and just let me go. Although, it might hinder my shooting arm," Kate said, holding her arm up to pull back her invisible bow, as if testing out how possibly she could feasibly have caffeine hooked into her. It was impossible but a girl could dream. Blissful sigh, happy thoughts. She really needed to go do some yoga after this.
Her head dipped to one side to watch Danny; he genuinely looked sorry that things were not going well for her. It wasn't that they were bad—she had Tommy and she had Billy, and that reunion was good, she loved her friends and they had been through too much to shake them off—but Kate wondered if he meant something else, or someone else. Was her mistaken identity on the network and with him only the start of something bigger? Was this Allison person here before? Or someone from home? That changed things depending on the answer.
Instead she waved off Danny's apology with a "don't sweat it, it's all biscuits and gravy," and she smiled at her pun. She could be semi-functional and semi-hilarious in the morning, afternoon, whatever. She unravelled a set of silverware, raising her fork in the air as a question if she could try a bite, before wedging a piece off and stuffing it in her mouth. Oh yes, good choice now, huge mistake later. Story of her life.
Kate spoke around her chewing, "Yeah, creepy crawlies, right?" She swallowed, chasing it with another sip of coffee. "Witches, demons, kidnapping, bad dreams, and the general vampires, werewolves, horror movie stuff. This place is an amalgamation of all the stories we thought weren't real." She jutted her chin at him, giving him a once over. "You look like you're handling yourself okay, pretty normal. Out in the daylight, no howling. How do you protect yourself here?"
