"You're kidding right?" Nate couldn't believe it. None of it. The things that Elena did, what she put them through, what she put him through. Nate knew something was wrong. Elena was trying so hard to make Nate fire her from The Spectator because apparently she did bad things, but Nate never imagined what those 'bad things' were. Nate had told her that he would talk to Dan to find out what was going on and that he'd call her, but now - what was the point? It also seemed like everything fell into place with Dan's attitude for the last couple of months. Nate was over it and now he felt a little guilty, although he didn't admit that. Nate was oblivious because of the compulsion and Dan couldn't tell him because of the same reason. She played them and she hurt them. Nate didn't even know what to say.
"Do you realize how long and how many times I've wanted to tell you. That I've tried to tell you? I literally couldn't. I couldn't say a word. I couldn't even tell Serena and she -" Dan stopped there. He didn't want to talk about that. He didn't want to talk about the way Serena looked at him or the way she resented him. The things that happened in the past few months were unfortunate and Dan didn't even know what to do. He knew he needed to talk to her, but he needed to make sure that Nate wouldn't let that bitch into the Spectator again. And from the looks of things, he wouldn't. Nate looked more hurt than anything, but he could see that anger in his eyes too.
Dan was just pissed. And he wanted revenge. He wanted to do something. He just wanted it truly over.
Nate knew that Salem wasn't easy and things happened every month. He even knew how Davina had somehow tied him into a protection spell, but this - this was ... it was disappointing and it was scary for Nate. What else could have happened? What else could have been done to him? Was Elena the only one? Nate saw a lot of people day in and day out. He was hardly home and he brought girls home with him all the time, but up until now, he thought it was just all fun and games. Apparently it was just games. He just wasn't the one playing them.
"Are you okay?" Dan asked, not sure where to go from here with Nate. They hadn't exactly been on the best of terms lately because even Nate seemed to look at Dan differently sometimes. Like maybe he was angry with him too. It could have been this situation or it could have been the fact that this place decided to bring his book here. He knew it was here. And he was getting payment from it, but it wasn't sitting well with Serena because if it had, then she wouldn't have thrown it in the trash.
Rubbing his forehead, Dan sighed. "I need to talk to Serena and tell her what's going on. Just don't talk to Elena. She's a liar and she's a monster. You might not remember, but I can you to someone who can make you remember." Dan said, getting up from the sofa when suddenly there was a knock at the door. They both looked at eachother and Nate got up then, walking to it and opening the door, seeing Serena.
Dan watched her for a moment, wondering what she was doing over at Nate's but he pushed that aside.
"I was actually going to find you," Dan said as Nate walked back to the sofa and Serena walked in.
