Alex thought it was weird that she and Stefan had yet to meet the witches too, but she certainly was not going to complain. She wasn't exactly looking forward to that encounter. She thought she was being a pretty good sport about all of this. But those witches, they sounded insane from the way Allison talked about them. And after the statue stunt she'd pulled with Stefan, she couldn't imagine they were very happy with her.
"Wait, Steve's a vampire?" Lydia asked, expressing her shock. She knew about vampires because of Katherine and Lydia still wasn't sure what to do about that whole situation. She knew Allison wanted her to cut Katherine off, but there was something inside Lydia that didn't believe that was the right call. Maybe the solution would come to her.
"His name is Stefan." Alex corrected Lydia. "But yes, he is a vampire." She returned her attention to Allison and nodded. "I understand, and I'm sure he will too. He probably just needed time." Alex felt like she was stuck in the middle of all of this, and that was kind of true. She was. She was the buffer between vampire and hunter. Alex believed Stefan was good. And she now believed the same about Allison.
She knew if Allison were truly bad, she'd hunt down and kill every vampire here. But she wasn't doing that. She must have some sort of code. Alex could respect that. It wasn't as if she'd never taken a life herself. She'd killed dangerous men. Sometimes people just needed killing. It was harsh and it was sad, but there it was. Allison wasn't out killing every vampire indiscriminately so Alex had to believe that she was a good person.
"I'll talk to him." Alex said again. She trusted Stefan, and she hoped he trusted her. They all had to work together on this, whether it was what they wanted or not.
Lydia stared at Alex. "So what are you?" She just figured since Allison was a hunter and Stefan was a vampire, Alex must be something. "Some kind of fairy?"
"No. I'm not anything." Alex said. She was just a girl stuck in this mess. But it made her wonder what Lydia was. She didn't think she was being rude by asking. It was logical to believe there might be something special about Alex since she had been chosen for this too.
"Oh okay." Lydia shrugged, not quite believing her. "Well thanks for dinner anyway."
