There wasn’t anything wrong with getting coffee with someone who was attractive and interested enough to reach out to Lydia. Despite her taste in men Lydia was easily drawn to those who felt like their ego couldn’t be any bigger than their heads.
It was just her natural taste and it showed – first there was Jackson, then there was Aiden and now…well, she couldn’t say that the coffee date was going to go anywhere. It was just coffee and Lydia didn’t know much about Anselm other than that he was quite possibly just another version of man who thought only about themselves and nothing else. Still, despite the warnings signs, Lydia dolled herself up just the way she liked to.
She went with a bright red lipstick and her long red hair was let down just for the occasion. Lydia decided on wearing a sun dress because coffee wasn’t code for wearing something tight. That could come later if Anselm surprised her and not before. Lydia wore matching heels before she went out, catching a ride to the Gulu Gulu café. It wasn’t Lydia’s usual place of getting coffee but Anselm suggested it and that’s what mattered most.
Walking inside, it wasn’t that hard to spot Anselm considering that he was quite possibly the best looking person currently acting as a customer. Lydia smiled, her eyes unwavering as she approached him, her designer handbag dropped into the seat of the table that Anselm was standing by, considering it to be their spot for the “date”.
“Anselm,” Lydia felt like trying out his name, saying it out loud for the first time when before she had been typing it. “It’s nice to meet you in person.” And there wasn’t any sort of disappointment there. Lydia wasn’t blind at all to Anselm’s good looks and he had them. It was quite possibly the best thing about him but that went against Lydia’s change of personality. She wasn’t going to judge a book by its cover and felt that she could at least see how Anselm acted in person before painting him as something obscene.
