Toph's head faced forward as Hope tried to metalbend but she was still watching in her own way. She waited but nothing happened and she wasn't all that surprised. "Guess it works differently," she said with a thoughtful expression on her face. "What kinds of powers have you borrowed before?" She knew that enhanced strength was one of them since Hope had used that when they had first met up. She was curious about the kind of abilities the people in Salem had. Toph didn't plan on picking fights but it'd be good information to know.
Her nose wrinkled as soon as Hope admitted there was more to the tour than simply showing her around. As soon as she mentioned clothes, Toph's arms folded over her chest as her lips pressed together. Fashion had never been something that had held her interest both because she had played dress up for her parents like a little doll and because she couldn't see what she was wearing in the first place. That was one advantage of being blind, she honestly didn't care what she looked like one way or another so long as she was comfortable.
"That was pretty sneaky of you," she said with a twist of her lips. It reminded her a bit of Katara. She was basically the mom of the group and worried about all of them. It had gotten on Toph's nerves since she wanted to pull her own weight but secretly, she kind of liked it. Katara had actually been a better mom figure than her own mom, she actually listened to her. A pang of longing hit her but she ruthlessly shoved it down.
"You get your clothes first." Although Hope's clothes didn't fit her, they were pretty nice. If Hope liked what this Mona person had to offer, there was a better chance that Toph might too. She wasn't entirely sold on it yet but clothes that fit her might be nice to have. "Then we'll see about me."
