Hope couldn't really insist on anything more than that. Just because she regretted not going to school didn't mean she would push her choices on Toph. As if she even could. The girl was young but she was headstrong and in a lot of ways reminded Hope of herself. She had been a bit full of herself when she was Toph's age too but life had beaten her down in a lot of ways and in the end, Hope had mellowed out a bit. It seemed to be a side effect of letting go of The Phoenix Force.
She turned her eyes towards Toph as she showed off her metalbending skills. "That's really cool and pretty," Hope said sincerely. "You've got a lot of awesome powers and that's coming from me. I wonder if I could borrow any of them."
Toph looked pissed or maybe scared or nervous, it was hard to tell because of the way her eyes looked.
"Don't worry. It doesn't hurt and I won't try if you don't want me to. But that's what I do. Back home, I'm considered a mutant. I was born with the gene that gave me extra powers and that's my power. I borrow other peoples' powers. It's tricky though. I think I have my own but I don't know exactly what they are or how to use them. And back home I could only borrow the powers of other mutants but here I've been using the powers of a genetically engineered soldier without the X gene. At least, I don't think he has it."
Hope frowned because she wasn't sure. She had definitely borrowed Wanda's power before too which wouldn't have been surprising if they were back home where Wanda actually was a mutant. Here Wanda was something different. She had been experimented on and become almost a meta human because of it.
"A lot of people say that their powers are amplified here. Maybe you could experiment, you know? Try new stuff. That could be fun."
Hope glanced around the busy city street they were walking along and noticed all of the oblivious people walking around.
"Though, maybe not here. But we could go somewhere later and experiment if you want."
