Mod Post: Werewolves and Halloween! Oh my!
Were-info!
So, just a heads up: October the 19th it's the full moon! This means that in the nights of October 18th, October 19th and October 20th, all weres must change. What does this mean for your were? There's two options. The new weres or the weres that have been known to be uncontrollable must (by choice or by decree) spend their nights in the school dungeons, in special-made caves. The weres that have their animal side under control are free to roam the school grounds, including the forest and the mountain slopes, though there will be teachers (mostly weres, but any teacher strong enough can be on watch-duty) there to supervise. The weres who misbehave will be sentenced to spending their next moon in the cages. Any were who attempts to go down to Camden Wharf will spend the next three moons in a cage, plus detention.
As for the regular students, they are discouraged from roaming the grounds in the evening, though not everybody heeds this warning. Being out won't earn you detention; provoking a were will. It really depends on what you are: the squishy witches prefer to stay in, for example, but some vampires enjoy tussling with werewolves.
Hallowe'en!
Hallowe'en is a big deal at this school. According to the Christian learnings, it's when the gates of Hell swing open and the restless spirits haunt the Earth. It's half-true. Hallowe'en is when the restless spirits that haven't yet passed on come out of their resting places and hunt the earth. Problem is, the Academy has lots of those, and not all of them have been buried in the graveyard. On Hallowe'en, all of them will come out. While they're not evil, these spirits, ghosts and phantoms can be mischievous and loud, which makes falling asleep on Halloween practically impossible.
So, October 31st is decreed to be an All Night Event at the Academy, meaning that not going to bed is encouraged. Curfew doesn't exist for one night. For those that really do need the sleep, there'll be camping beds set up in the main hall, which will be warded against spirits. The different Houses each organize different ways to spend the night, allowing the students to have fun throughout the night. Well, as long as the spirits don't interfere.
Pegasus usually organizes food and a relaxed place to hang out, chill and communicate with the friendlier spirits. Sphinx goes for board games and an extensive fox hunt. Kitsune is the entertainment house, going for video games, movies and television. Hydra is transformed into a Haunted House, where the Hydras have spared no effort to make the house as scary and frightening as possible. And Ladon? Ladon is the party house where they have a huge bonfire, though alcohol is strictly forbidden. The Ladons usually find a way around this. All these things are usually set up by the students in the expert levels, which enables the younger students to browse and have fun.
Costumes are encouraged, following the age-old tradition of dressing up to fool the spirits. Also popular are charms and amulets that provide protection against ghosts.
November 1st is a day off. Most people use it to sleep.
Below, feel free to ask questions or make comments, plot with others players or even shout random stuff. Just have fun with the concept, and creativity is, as always, encouraged.
