Since Mohinder had shown up at the Safe Zone and they had been reunited, Molly had been positively giddy. Her good mood had only grown at the arrival of what had once been one of her favorite holidays, too. The thought of sitting down with the two most important men in her life (and Mattie, whom Molly simply adored) and enjoying a meal that signified being thankful for the good things in their life had put a smile upon the girl's face and a bounce in her step.
As with all children, her good mood also meant that her normally quiet nature was temporarily replaced with a chatty perkiness that would have likely caused her mother - were she still alive, of course - to fuss at her to sit down and stay quiet for a while. Thus far, however, neither Matt nor Mohinder had told her anything of that nature and therefore there was little to keep Molly from expressing her good mood at almost every turn.
Currently, that entailed her sitting at the kitchen table - her school books stacked neatly in front of her and her homework temporarily forgotten - as she did her best to catch both Matt and Mohinder up on everything she could possibly think of in regards to her new class.
"So the teacher said that I didn't have to sit next to the boy that kept pulling my hair," she stated. "And that, if I keep getting good grades like I have been, she's going to see if any of the kids in the lower grades need any tutors. That means I'll get to spend a whole two hours a week out of my class, helping someone else, and I'll get credit for it." She swung her legs back and forth as she spoke, feet locked together at the ankles. The pencil she had been using for her math was being tapped idly against the paper she had been writing on, as she thought back to the day before and everything else that had happened.
"Oh! And Mrs. Walters - that's the woman at the office that oversees all of the foreign language classes in the school - called me into her office and said that I didn't have to take a foreign language if I didn't want since I already spoke Hindi, but I think I'm going to take French anyway because I really want to learn it and the woman that's teaching it lived in France for a couple of years and-"
She paused, her legs going still and the pencil pausing mid-tap, as she eyed the pie that Matt seemed to be considering making. Her brow furrowed ever so slightly, a faint look of worry flashing across her features, but her voice was steady and filled with innocence as she asked politely, "Are you... going to make the dessert?" Then she looked to Mohinder, as though willing him to speak up and offer to cook that part of the meal along with the rest of what they were going to be eating.
Okay. Maybe the added look meant she wasn't quite as polite as she could have been. But, Matt couldn't cook. Everybody knew that. And as much as Molly loved Matt, she really wanted pie for dessert. Pie that wasn't burnt. Or undercooked. Or mushy. Or any of the many other ways it could be messed up, once Matt got ahold of it.
