Sister was sleeping. She hadn't been feeling well the last few days and, although she had gotten out of bed and fixed Annie something for breakfast, she had then crawled back into bed with the soft request that she not be bothered for a couple of hours. Which was fine. Annie was perfectly capable of sitting in the living room, playing with her dominoes and coloring, until Sister woke up again. She had food, she had something to drink, and she had her Raggedy Ann doll named April. All-in-all, she was set for at least the next few hours.
The only problem was, Annie didn't want to be set. She was feeling a bit anxious staying cooped up in the apartment. She'd had room to move around, places she could go, back home. Not the house her parents lived in of course, but the school she'd been living at before the bad things had started happening. And now, while she was glad to be with Sister again, she was once more cooped up into a small area. It was starting to become a bit more than she could take.
So she decided to go out.
Getting dressed wasn't difficult. She knew how to do it thanks to the time spent in the school. She even knew that snow on the ground meant she had to wear a hat, gloves, jacket, and scarf. Getting them on was a little tricky but she managed well enough. And just as the clock in the hallway began to announce it was ten, Annie quietly left the apartment with April held securely in the crook of one elbow and tucked tightly against her body.
She didn't pass anyone on her way out of the building, and there weren't too many who gave her more than a passing glance as she made her way down the street. She peered around her as she walked slowly with no real destination in mind. She allowed her senses to guide her and simply took in the sights around her. Before she knew it, she had made it to the very place that Castiel had taken both her and Sister when they'd first arrived. Central Park.
It was just as beautiful as it had been the first time. Pausing at the walkway that led into the area, Annie had a small, private sort of smile on her face as she peered up at the tree-tops covered with snow and icicles. She watched as a light breeze caused the branches to sway ever so slightly, the snow raining down a tiny dusting across the frozen ground below.
Moving sedately forward she finally located a park bench and made her way to it. It was cold out, but she was properly bundled up and was far too lost in her own little world to notice. Just as she was too caught up in her own thoughts and her surroundings to notice when someone approached her as she sat upon the bench, her doll in her lap and her feet swinging gently to and fro across the snow at her feet.
