[Behind the doors of the cathedral-like of the school, the gears of the Factory seem to stretch on and on, deeper and deeper. And at their core, under the shadow of a great clock tower, under a glass-domed view of the spreading night sky, clusters and clusters of piano and typewriter keyboards, cables, laptops and servers are spread on every available surface.

In the quiet, the sound of their fans, the hum of their drives sounds almost like music.]

[A trill of music that could almost be laughter, and gears start to move in time, the movement clicking through the system like a metronome, parts shifting here, sections splitting there . . .

And the section holding her opens like a fanning peacock's tail, her body (at most semi-conscious) slowly slipping free, and very much at risk of falling towards the floor.]

She hangs there just long enough for him to get near, and slips out of the machine's hold like a butterfly breaking from its chrysalis, cables trailing from her back like limp and bloodless wings.

. . . for a moment, it might seem like her arms land around his shoulders just by accident. But there's the fluttering brush of fingers spreading, bunching the fabric of his shirt between them.]
