Who: You. Yes, you.
Where: In your dreams :)
When: Who even knows anymore? Sometime while you're sleeping
What: So remember how you guys offed the god of dreams and left the one who likes nightmares? Remember how she feeds on fear and there's end-of-the-world panic going on? About that.

[My goodness. There sure are some awful dreams floating around.]

((OOC- Nightmare mingle post! Haunted is messing with everyone's dreams, twisting them into nightmares. Anyone affected will be unable to wake, and teammates watching them sleep will note that they take physical damage during the dream- until, at the very end, the nightmare breaks and you wake up, completely healed and with your beds mysteriously covered in blood. Go crazy, guys. Troll your teammates. Shared dreaming is enabled if you want it, with as many people as you want it with. :|b))

((ETA- to clarify, we are not running nightmares, this is all mingle. Share your private terrors with your teammates and friends, GO GO. /o/))

[The most amazing thing. In fact, look! We're totally in some pretty fancy place. SOME CRUISE SHIP OR SOMETHING, LOOKS LIKE. It wouldn't look too bad if it weren't for those two big, ominous looking metal doors with numbers written on them]

...what is this place?

[it's huuuuuge and also there are staircases leading who knows where. AND ELEVATORS IN THE DISTANCE.

Next to the two doors, there are some really weird looking devices]

It's a ship, what else?

[Going over to examine them.]

But why are we on a ship?

'cause there's gotta be some real danger to this, pretty sure it would be pointless otherwise. It's an experiment, after all.

An experiment? What kind of experiment?

[Runs his fingers over one. Is this a lever?]

[there's some kind of lever with a little display on top of it. You can read the words VACANT on it. Right next to it there's something that looks specifically designed for people to slam their hands on it dramatically]

Dunno. A fucked up one, I guess.

Want to know about a real interesting one?

All right.

Well, it's this one experiment a bunch of scientists did with rats.

They took a squarish C-shaped tank, and filled it with enough water that the rats could drown. The tank has two exit-- Exit A is pitch black and not even a rat can see it. But Exit B's electrified, so the rats can't really leave from there. So what do you think the rats did...?

They didn't know it was electrified, did they? They went for Exit B.

Good guess. They went for B, of course, but since it's electrified they couldn't get out. So, after a lot of trial and error, they finally found exit A.

None of them ended up drowning, then?

Dunno? Pretty sure some did. I'm just talking about the eventual result. This wasn't done just once or twice.

And you know, the scientists repeated this experiment over and over, using hundred of different rats over several generations. The interesting part...?

With each generation, the rats took less time to find the right exit. Eventually, it came to a rat being put in the tank and instantly choosing exit A, without even looking at B.

They evolved to like the dark over the generations? That's awfully specific... although I suppose if the ones who couldn't see routinely drowned, and it was a genetic thing, that might explain it.

That's the most obvious conclusion, yeah...?

But it's not over yet. The same experiment was conducted in another laboratory, nowhere close from the original one, with the same results.

Actually, that's not exact.

The rats in the second experiment begin the trials a hell of a lot faster compared to the ones from the first experiment. These rats weren't related to the ones used before, and they'd never even come to contact with them. And yet they all easily found their way to exit A, just as if they already knew.

How do you think that was possible?

[Thinks it over for a minute. 8|a]

A poorly-chosen initial sample? If the sample group wasn't the average in either the first or the second experiment, I guess it might have skewed the results.

Nah, it got nothing to do with that. You ever heard of morphogenetic fields...? Well, it's a theory about something like a shared consciousness. Something that could allow to pass on information through an undetectable medium. Maybe that's what happened with the rats.

Though I guess we should worry more about ourselves. 'cause right now? We're the rats, and we're the ones in an emergency.

[because yes, all of a sudden? The room is starting to get filled with water]

And also he doesn't look entirely convinced and totally is looking down the stairs. The water is starting to fill in faster and faster]

Shit! Maybe she went on ahead. Yeah, I guess she went through one of those doors. Come on, let's hurry before we drown in here.
