[As you attempt to get your bearings, something catches your attention.
She appears for just the fraction of an instant: a girl of perhaps seven, lying just beneath the surface. Her long, black hair is spread out around her head like a veil, and her eyes too are black, wide and bottomless, open beneath the water. Her skin is a ghastly pale, and in the heartbeat that she remains, she calls to mind something long dead, something inhuman and watchful.]
