I did. My human father died before I was born, but when I was less than a year old, my other parents took a new mate, who was like a father to me. And my home village had a lot of family -- the village was made of the kin of my Oankali mother and father.
It was a little difficult when I got older, mostly because I thought I was ready to be an adult, and everyone there saw me as a child. But, I gather that's not unusual for children about to become adults. More so for humans than Oankali males and females.
