[Well, Edge has arrived at some point, soaked to the bone and dumping a bag full of things in the corner of Lepus' ground floor as he strips his jacket off and wrings the water out of it.]

[The Beach]

[You head down the stairs. The light disappears partway down, and you continue in darkness. And then, quite suddenly, you find the stairs dropping out from under you and you land with a jolt on solid ground, light flaring in your vision again.

You’re standing on a beach. The sand spreads away in front of you, damp and bleak, until it meets a slowly sloshing waterline... but it looks more like liquid stone than water, ebbing and pulsing in a disturbingly familiar way. Above you stretches nothing but blackness. Sloping down ahead of you, the sand begins to be broken up by shrapnel, and some bodies lie here and there, some of them in familiar blank colours, others in blue and yellow flightsuits. The leaning, shattered mass of a submarine lies a few hundred metres away to the left, smoke billowing from a hole in its side. Opposite it on the right is a giant snake carcass, black scales burnt and curling away from the flesh, its head exploded open and broken fangs on display.

More pressing, however, are the two figures facing each other a short distance away, dashing back and forth, hurling things into each others’ path at furious speed. Both of them look like Edge, but while one is wearing the familiar black, bronze-trimmed suit of Ophiuchus, the other is in the same blue and yellow flightsuit as the people on the beach.

And as one of the objects they’re flinging at each other spirals off course and slams into the sand nearby, exploding with a terrific boom, you may realise just what those noises you’ve been hearing are. They’re missile impacts.]

[Unfortunately, it's like shouting into an abyss. Whatever they are, they don't seem to have minds - not ones your telepathy is attuned to, at least. Edge grimaces and flings the submarine piece back at Erik, clamping his hand down on a wound in his side. Erik snaps it aside with a wrist, glaring through a cut above his eye.]

Is that honestly the best you can do? You'll be out of the way in no time.
