It would. You should get into the basics first before you start on the actual aiming. Remember that the important part is not that you hit the centre of your target at this point, but that all your shots hit the same area. If all your shots hit the same area it means you are doing it right and all you have to adjust is how you aim. If your shots are scattered, you keep changing around too much or are getting distracted by something, like the recoil.
...While it's best to start with an immobile target, remember that hitting a moving target is completely different and something that will have to be learnt separately.
