He got Edward and Ikki as well...and nearly took Link's entire neck.

We were exploring in the abandoned city under the guise of hunting. We wandered into a building that was some kind of temple...he found us in there and wasn't too happy about it. He said his subjects had been awfully rebellious lately and that it was "a permanent reminder of the importance of respect and authority". The wounds don't heal.

I don't know how much he's actually figured out...but when you go hunting for keystones, be careful. If you can, bring a cloak like the one Ashikawa made.
