That's what she meant. The Old Man is like the judges, but more powerful. They don't seem to be able to control it, and it eats people more literally. If it catches you, it will pull you into the rock, where you'll be slowly consumed in a state of not-quite-death over a long period of time.

Don't let it catch you.

In any case, King is the judge who seems to have some measure of control over the other judges. He is the one who has, presumably, organized this game system. We've found evidence that other groups of people like us have gone through something similar to what we have, and in the end were consumed by the earth. For various reasons, we suspect that at a certain point, King writes his players off as a loss and instead gathers a new group to begin the feeding cycle over again. That point has passed already.

It's doubtful whether anyone at all would leave from this point forward, if he has his way. But if there wasn't something we could do about it, I wouldn't be wasting my time telling you this.

Since the stone of the dorm protects us from what the judges can "see," we have ways to keep secrets from them- and we've been making alternate plans. Each judge possesses a symbol, hidden somewhere within these caves. If the symbols are destroyed, the judges die- and their power, hypothetically, lingers after. We've begun looking for the King's symbol, so that we can destroy him and use his power to grant our wishes and return home.

	In more ways than one. We'd planned to go out looking again tonight, but... let me put it this way. Ideally, we wouldn't be taking you out into potential danger before you've even learned to defend yourself. Take into consideration Grace's current condition and the fact that the dorms automatically lock after dark, though, and the alternative is even worse. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

The only viable light source will be a lantern that we received from Ophiuchus, the judges' team. The judges don't know we have it. Aside from that, it's pitch black; not even magical light can pierce it. The earth is more active then, so we should be prepared to evade if necessary.

We'll be exploring an area of the caves that contains an abandoned city with members of Hydra and Apus. The basic plan is to have a few people in a scouting role, to try and sense the keystone. If we find anything, someone shielded from its influence- Aoi or I- can retrieve it safely. We'll probably be with the scouting group, since we only have two lanterns between everyone involved. The rest of the people will be waiting as backup to provide distraction and cover after we take it.
