He wants to bring an end to the cycle. It's gone on too long, and it's degrading the world, and them with it. The cycles are going faster, but they're still running out of power. King's manipulating them, driving them to feed off us, which they were never meant to do. This world should have died long ago, and it's our presence here that's stopping it from passing on as it should.

It's more that he'd rather die period. When this place was created, and the Judges--gods, at the time--were brought in, the one who ruled over death, the Gentleman, left. No one was able to die properly after that, not the original inhabitants from this plane, not the Judges, and not anyone who was brought in after all the people here were absorbed by the earth.

He wants a chance to die naturally, without bringing more of us here to feed to the Old Man.

	Some of them might want to. Besides your patron, I mean. And for those who want to, who aren't dangerous, I'm willing to help them... even offered it to Messenger, but he's not so interested.
