[Out this far, it's not something that your eyes can tell anymore. There's no real difference between the consuming dark of curfew and the endless dark of a place where no light touches at all. But it's something you can feel. Something pulls back away from you and you can feel the metal under your feet, comforting and reminding you, somehow that yes, you do still exist past the bruises and dull ache of walking. There's a WORLD and it's not just you. You can hear water, the comforting sharpness of your own footfalls on rock.

More importantly.. the ground stills. No more of the gentle rocking, soft and firm sometimes, ground mushy and unpleasant others. Sometimes, it's nice to just pretend you've gone crazy.

Of course, when you finally see light, a soft, wispy green glow.. you might think that you really HAVE finally done it.]

[He has to shut his eyes and shake his head, willing himself not to do this. He's had enough of phantom lights that aren't really there, that are just a product of his very overtired mind. But it's still there when he opens them again. It makes him stop, staring at it, until he can really convince himself it's there.

And, well, there's not much for it, is there. What is he going to do, exactly, turn around and head back into the dark? He starts moving forward towards it, slowly.]

[The way opens up into a large open space. ... The light source, should one have actually carried a torch in, would have been so ridiculously miniscule as to be negligible... but to your eyes it's practically a dawn, pooled around small boulders and a few twisted rocks.

The cavern itself is... odd, there's a feeling of tension here across your skin, as an almost physical pressure. But the most noticable... is that the sensation of metal in the ground... is gone. It's almost like no minerals at all exist below you.

Faint, glowing green puddles, barely an inch or two in depth, are scattered here and there, clinging to the edges of rocks and dips with no real identifiable source... the rocks themselves are strange... a bit too smooth, a bit too wet.

But really what may catch your eye the greatest is an enormous opening, like a great maw, lined with jagged spikes of rock like demonic teeth...

And a familiar old man, sitting at the edge of it... with a fishing pole.]

My my don't I just keep finding you kids around the edges of what I like to call "bad ideas." Son, just about how lost ARE you?

[Came to an abrupt halt when the traces of metal disappeared in the ground, almost as if he feared there wouldn't be any ground there if he went a step further. And the gigantic hole in the earth drew his attention immediately, enough so that he startled again at actually being spoken to, before realising who it was.]
