Who: Ophiuchus
Where: Barracks
When: Day 259, morning
What:

[To those who HADN'T been outside last night, the rumbling shift that happens in the morning really isn't much different than the one you heard last night. The ground moves as the Guardian settles its coils comfortably again.

It's almost as if nothing happened at all.

However, Uraeus' uniforms become fine and extremely comfortable... while Uroboros finally falls behind. Caduceus is, again, in last place.]

[it's a tragedy, but for some reason he looks a lot more tired out than he usually does during an insomniac episode]

Ah... people are going to be restless. No wonder he's moving around so much.

What does Ninja know about the different blocks that make up Sabra La Tau?

The north block is simplistic and designed for small groups, sparce hunting conditions and is currently off limits, closest to the area referred to as a pillar.

The east is larger, but narrow and confined. Currently completely blocked off and still flooded by the last report.

Accurate, but lacking details.

Largely, the reports you've seen have omitted Surgeon's role in the flooding that led to the migration from east to south.

He was a Judge. One we were ordered to not take orders from. Around the time the Pillar was destroyed and the water in the east block was contaminated.

And now that sort of thing may be happening all over again. And I believe this is the final round, if my memory of that time is accurate enough.

[Processing that, arms folded and gaze down.]

It's missing too much information. What happened that caused it? Presumably that Judge but what happened after that? The fuck's doing it again?

The Old Man.

Didn't anyone tell you of him?

The story of how Sabra La Tau came to be... had to do with how the Old Woman and Old Man fought against each other. The people living above were herded by their gods to the below, down where the Old Man sleeps.

All of this. [gestures to the stone] Is the Old Man. Or that's how the blanks would explain it. The Old Man takes those he wishes to devour by capturing them within the Pillar. And the Old Man is hungry.

Surgeon was the Judge who wanted to show the blanks the true history of Sabra La Tau. King did not approve. For all I know, I could be disliked by King for merely mentioning this, but I don't really care much for the politics behind it. I serve the King, just as I've sworn to. But in any case, Surgeon essentially broke apart the Pillar in the North. And that was when the Old Man started creeping into the water and into the east block.

So many blanks were taken during the flooding... but because of that explosion and earthquake Surgeon likely caused, some older blanks--blanks from even before the first of this batch in the North block--were able to escape. Thorn and Uraeus's Princess were two such individuals.

[He glances towards the panicking princess and late croc... it IS interesting.

Going from there, the infection is rather large and throughout the South, but we felt almost nothing here at all. Except the princess seems convinced we're going to be shortly after.

The silence stretches out as the kid processes it out, and the dwindling odds.]

So, what's the pattern in winning?

There's no records of any previous batches of blanks making it out. There's no record of them, period. Except for those who escaped from the Pillar. Some will be taken by the Judges themselves, most by the earth.

Unless the blanks are working on something. There's no easy way to tell, as they can escape certain ears if they're in the right locations. And after they gave away their one safe place in the east block by mistakenly mentioning it out in the open... I doubt they will be foolish enough to slip up this time around.

Whatever they have plan, it will be a suicidal run, I think! Bringing down King's wrath is no laughing matter for them. But if they don't, they may as well resign themselves to their own fate.

One thing I do know is that this batch may be different from others, otherwise, why would Surgeon sacrifice himself to show such things to the blanks? Why destroy the Pillar which has likely been there since the beginning?

I'm not talking about everyone. I'm talking about common traits between those who've 'won.'

Though... the rest is interesting if just in the fact it's better to have a good solid basis of information if they expect us to stop them. Which I'm sure it's going to come to, especially if they are unique in some way.

Oh, it's definitely going to be a task. They had us stop the blanks from making a run to the Pillar when this all started in the east block. A few managed to get through.

Beyond that... no. There's no common traits between those who 'won'. The only thing I can tell is that it's normally someone who has been in this place for more than 90 to 100 days. But even that is up to debate as there are people here since the beginning of this set of games who have yet to win.
