[finishes writing and hands her a couple of sheets of neatly written work:
To the best of my knowledge, the world exists in a balance of life given and life taken. Predators feed from prey who feed from plant or insect, and so on down the chain. The plants and insects however feed from the decaying remains of larger and more complex organisms. The world if it remained as such, would be in balance.
In this place, there is no such balance. We are provided food as we are provided animals and plants on which to feed. Because we never die here, our bodies do not enter into the life cycle of this world, leading me to believe it is a dead world.
The circle of life exists for the purpose of balance. There are those who exist outside that balance as well -- unnatural creatures, parasites if you will. They only take life and do not give back to the system. They are the unnecessary parts of the world.
All of this, of course, is dependent on the viewpoint of humanity. Animals do not consider this option, and if they are thrown out of balance, they cannot consciously decide that there is something wrong. They will simply over hunt their prey and their food source will be depleted. At such a time, they too will perish as they can no longer be sustained.
It is a balance then, which makes the taking of life necessary. A need to survive. If things remained in balance, then a level of peaceful existence could be reached for humanity. Unfortunately, I do not believe it is possible. Because humans are more than their animal instincts, because they are intelligent, they hold a greater capacity for destruction and thus are more able to throw the balance of the world from its natural alignments. ]
I think I might have changed topics slightly within it. I hope it will be alright.
