[Curfew falls like a heavy, smothering blanket, the already-dim torches and all else around them vanishing under impenetrable darkness. In that moment, the dorm behind them, the space above, even the places the others were standing seem swallowed up, warped, like a familiar field suddenly obscured by the thickest of mists.

[It is not so much that Syaoran's fires go out—in fact, as far as the pull of magic would suggest, they burn still. But where light should be is only a deeper darkness, deep as the light would be bright. Sound is still present too, but muffled, indistinct; like it could be coming from all directions, or none at all. The loudest to each is their own heartbeat, own breath—beyond that, far enough out, there seems to be nothing at all.
