...there was a time when I worked for some pretty unpleasant people. A criminal syndicate. My employer took him with me, at one point, for protection against a rival. The rival happened to be a twenty-millenia-old dragon, and I wasn't strong enough to stand more than a few seconds against him, mentally.

Afterward, my employer was...unhappy.
