Who: Anyone
Where: Lacerta Capitol Forest
When: King's Year 199, midsummer
What:
[No one had to tell the people of Lacerta that something in these days was terrible, terrible, terrible. Some had understood better than others, but now there was no question. It started so suddenly it seemed like a dream- the Eldest dropping a few leaves unseasonably. By the end of the day his branches were audibly creaking as they dried out. The Great Tree of Lacerta was dying. The maiden who spoke for him gave no help. All she could say was that he was in pain.
But any Lacertan worth their salt could have told you that. The very earth itself was in pain, and the hum and song of life had become cries of agony. The life was drying up. Lesser gods and spirits turned to stone where they fell, and the mournful wail could be heard from Monoceros to Orion on the blistering afternoon when the eldest tree snapped clean in two.]
