Who: All, eventually
Where: Various
When: King's Year 198, early fall
What: A messenger approaches.

[A tall, gaunt man walks across the plains alone approaching a small gathering of Pyxis tribes, with little fear or hesitation. He seems to have appeared out of almost nowhere, and unphased by the pre-monsoon winds. He swathed in the black uniforms of an Ophiuchus priest and uniform is lined with red. Though his cloak is drawn over his face, you can see something of a tight line of his lips and his hands, when he speaks, are slow moving and expressive.

He stops just before the first tribesman approaching him.]

I seek the chieftain of all the tribes, and then the clan with the greatest speed and experience.

((OOC: ALL THE COUNTRIES will be visited to speak with a regent, king, leader or whatnot. If you don't have a player character who is suitable, feel free to use sabra_la_au to speak for them. If you're stumped and want us to whip something up or off screen it, let Nishi know and we'll work something out.))

[you can hear him up above, scoffing]

"A time of strife?" What's he call this, then? Maybe it will hit those beast bastards instead of us. If they took our cities, they can take the trouble that comes with them, too.

That's the idea. Let's get out of the open and stay under cover. Let whatever's coming tear apart what it can find- and if it hits them hard enough, we'll be there to finish the job.

Sounds like a plan to me.

[he leaps down, though in the jungle it's not one direct drop, he lands on various branches in the way and then drops off those to get down]

So, this mean we're moving again?

Mm. Do you know Mos Thorntier?

[he's not real great with names, so he shrugs]

If we've been there before, I'll recognize it when I see it.

We've been a few times.

In any case, that's where we're heading.

Do you know the way or are we counting on that guide?

You think I can't find my way around the jungle by now?

You should, but it looks like you're keeping that guy around for some reason, anyway.

He's not coming with us. I'm sending him to collect a group from the refugee camps and bring them in separately.

That's the idea. If the populous areas are the ones that have to worry the most, leaving everyone on Cepheus' doorstep is a sure way to get the rest of us killed off.

[nods]

Think those beast bastards might catch on to us?

[asks less out of concern, but with the slight eager edge IF YOU THINK THEY DO, I'LL GET A CHANCE TO KILL SOME, with Rigel's usual casual disregard of the human life that might be lost if that does happen]

[Lllowers her voice considerably.]

If they do, we'll just have to fight them. It's not like the cowards in the camps who wouldn't leave to go fight will say no if the danger's right in front of them.

If we can avoid it, I'd rather not tell them the source for the time being. The last thing we need is panic.

We've seen enough of how people hold together when the situation becomes desperate.

For now, we'll imply that it's a more mundane sort of tip-off. That we received word of incoming troops and should clear the area.
