I know I live in the backwaters, but come on, I'm not totally stupid...

[SIGH] Though. Did you know, one my of childhood friends got married this year? What's with that...?

I know, right? He's a traitor to bachelorhood.

May their happiness be blessed and their roots be strong. But really, let's focus on your girl. You're struck by her, so just let her know that.

I... what if she doesn't feel the same way, though?

Then you're out of luck. What if she does?

Augh--! You make it sound so simple...!

It is simple! Suppose you let her know you think she's quiet and sensible, or you could even spring for "beautiful," and you'd like to know her. That sort of honest approach is best.

[Snort] I don't think I can do anything else, really... I'm not good at being smooth or anything like that. ... But thanks.

Absolutely don't try to be smooth. That isn't your charm point at all.

[snerks, and leans forward]

But you're earnest, gentle, and have clear, good eyes, and you're a terrible liar in a liar's world. That's what makes you appealing, and what a woman or man will love you for, so don't stray far from the strengths the Gods have given you.

[info]assumedposition

Why? Well, you're always so confident about this sort of thing, I mean, it's hard to imagine you ever having bad luck with this sort of thing...

[well ok]

Yes, well. I have the benefit of a culture of disbelieving in too much nonsense.

I guess so... speaking of cultures, you know I've had no less than three separate people suggest that I kill something big and impressive for her?

Hydra. Sometimes I feel like the odd one out.

I hate to break it to you, but you are definitely the odd one out.

And I admit I can see the romance in it.
