[SIGH] Um, let me see if I can explain this in a way that makes sense. Despite it making no sense to me at all.
Right, so ... I'm not exactly proud of it, but back home, my family was part of the aristocracy. Or so I thought-- soon after I found that out, one of the next memories I got back was... a huge scandal involving my father. Big enough to probably warrant our immediate expulsion from high society. I think it was fairly recently, too, at least-- I didn't feel much younger than I am now.
After that, I remembered ... going to the piano concert held by my ex-fiancée-- Eugénie. I was denied entry, though, and a friend had to help me slip in through the back door. But that way I got to talk to Eugénie backstage, so it all worked out. Well, until her father found me, anyway, and had me thrown out. In that memory, we weren't engaged anymore, and her father treated me like scum...
I always just assumed that our engagement had been broken off because of Father's scandal. But in this memory... it was definitely before the scandal, and before the piano concert. Everything was still happy and normal, until I just ... suddenly arrived home one day, to find my parents waiting for me in the living room, to tell me that Eugénie's father had suddenly broken off our engagement for no apparent reason. I really... don't understand. What is with adults?
