This was dangerous no matter what. I couldn't flat-out lie to him, because too many other people know the truth; and I don't knwo about your River, but he's not liable to commit treason to protect me. He would be trying to find it no matter what I told him. And if I had denied any complicity at all, Lynx would still be his focus.
. . . it's not Ophiuchus we have to be worried about in the end, though.
